A little bit about me...
I live
north of Pittsburgh in Wexford, PA with my life partner Jeffry Blake Johnson (www.jeffryblakejohnson.com)
and our sweet little dog Ama (www.owlweb.org/ama) . Jeffry and I have been together as
partners since 1997. I grew up in Cleveland, Ohio.
For the last several years, I have been on an
exciting journey of connecting to Judaism through its many diverse forms,
including chant, meditation and study of sacred texts. In January of 2008, I
completed the Kol Zimra program, a 2-year course in Jewish chant leadership, led
by Rabbi Shefa Gold (www.rabbishefagold.com).
I'm also part of a Jewish meditation group that meets weekly.
I'm a composer
of sacred music for instruments and voices. My music is my strongest connection
to God, and it is a significant aspect of my meditation and prayer time. I’m
also a beginner quilter, and am having a great time exploring this art form.
I work at Pittsburgh Glass Works as Director of Distribution
Services. I've been blessed to have had a
rewarding career filled with diverse experiences since 1986.
I’ve been vegan
since 2004, and have found this way of life to be a powerful spiritual practice.
I see God in all things, and veganism has been a way for me to honor animal
beings, by not contributing to the food and other industries that treat animals
as commodities.
I love nature,
and any opportunity to enjoy God's beautiful creation.
