Choral

Song of Songs – Suite for Women’s Voices

Arise My Beloved (Song of Songs
2:10-13
)

MP3 - Performed by The Women's Choir of West Virginia University, Jeffry Blake Johnson, Conductor.

Arise my beloved come away! For the winter is past, the rains are over and gone. The blossoms have appeared in the land, the time of pruning has come; the song of the turtledove is heard in our land. The green figs form on the fig tree, the vines in blossom give off fragrance. Arise my beloved. Arise!

K’tapuach Ba’atzay Hayaar (Song of Songs 2:3-4)

MP3 – Performed by The Women's Choir of West Virginia University, Jeffry Blake Johnson, Conductor.

K'tapuach baatzay hayaar kayn dodi bayn habanim. B'tzeelo chima-d'ti v'yashavti oofeeryo matok l’chiki. Heviahni el bayt hayayin v'diglo alai ahavah.

Like an apple tree among trees of the forest, so is my beloved among the youths. I delight to sit in his shade, and his fruit is sweet to my mouth. He brought me to the banquet room and his banner of love was over me.

Let Me Be a Seal Upon Your Heart (Song of Songs 8:6-7)

MP3 – Performed by The Women's Choir of West Virginia University, Jeffry Blake Johnson, Conductor.

Let me be a seal upon your heart, like the seal upon your hand. For my love is as fierce as death, passion is as mighty as Sheol. Its darts are darts of fire, a blazing flame. Vast floods cannot quench love, nor rivers
drown it.

Now Talking God

MP3 - Performed by Jeffry Blake Johnson, vocals.

(Navajo prayer)– Now talking God with your feet I walk. I walk with your limbs, I carry forth your body. For me your mind thinks; Your voice speaks for me. Beauty is before me; And beauty is behind me; Above and below me hovers the beautiful. I am surrounded by it. I am immersed in it. In my youth I am aware of it, And in old age I shall walk quietly the beautiful trail.
