Red Leaf of Autumn 2002Autumn Song

A chill
I feel
In the air
Through my hair.

It's harvest time for all again.

Time to reveal the heart,
Time to do our part,
Revealing what it is we have
To nourish, lift up, let go, give out.

As we see the green
Change to reds and golds,
May we see with honest eye
What it is that we hold.

May we see our fruit
Fully formed,
Filled with juice and vitamin rich,
And offer out our gifted branch,
Releasing jewel of year's past life --
This sacred food,
This wisdom, humor,
Thought or doing, breath of light.

With hands outstretched
And tear in eye,
We call forth
The power of our dear Autumn.

We call the winds
To lift our gifts
Toward mouths awaiting.

We call the winds
To lift our gifts
Toward Hearts awaking.

We call the winds
To lift our gifts
Toward life's next way.

We call the winds
To lift our gifts
To find their place.

For snows are coming
And time to sleep
And seek
The dreams of tomorrow.

But for now,
We lift our arms,
Bared by our letting,
Yet not forgetting
To thank the Mother,
To dance the Spirit,
To be the child
Born of Earth and Stars.

As we feel the chill,
And taste the scent
Of gifts released.
Ho! Autumn!
